After going over two 5000-metre passes on the previous section, the next challenge was thin trails and landslides (not to mention the usual river crossings). Over 5 days, we went through the villages of Dibling and Zingchan, never actually camping in the village itself.
After that, we arrived in Hanumar which is next to the Zanskar River and, from there, it was a short walk to Pidmo, which is accessible from the Leh-Manali highway. We used this to get to Zangla, for a well-earned rest day and for the crew to resupply.

In August and September 2022, I was in Ladakh, India, for a month-long trek of Zanskar GHT (Great Himalayan Trail). Our hiking team comprised 6 trekkers, 8 crew and 19 horses (including mules).
