• Moong dal – 2 cups
• Rice – 1½ cups
• Black pepper (crushed) – 1 tsp
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
• Salt – to taste
• Ginger – 1 tbsp, grated
• Green chilli – 1 (optional)
• Dry red chilli – 2
• Curry leaves – 8–10 leaves
• Ghee – 2 tsp
• Oil – 2 tsp
• Cashews – 2 tbsp (fried)
Coconut Chutney – Ingredients
• Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
• Dalia (roasted chana dal) – ½ tbsp
• Peanuts – 2 tbsp
• Green chillies – 3
• Garlic – 1 clove
• Mint leaves – ¼ cup
• Cilantro (coriander) leaves – ¼ cup
• Tamarind – peanut-size
• Salt – to taste
• Water – as needed
