Sazh and Lightning exchange intense feelings about the fate of Serah, the former warning her of the possibility of needing to kill her. Lightning is conflicted of the notion, but continues to remain unconvinced.

Upon reuniting with Serah, the group witnesses Serah's transformation into crystal, which stirs a hotted debate on whether she is alive or dead. The group is interrupted by the PSICOM who move to eradicate the Pulse Vestige off the face of Cocoon, eventually leading Lightning and the others to face the Fal'Cie that originally cursed Serah.

Snow implores the Fal'Cie to return Serah back to them while Lightning immediately rushes in to attack it, aiming to destroy it for good. This triggers a fight with the Fal'Cie which Snow, Lightning and Sazh eventually win. The Fal'Cie then brands each of them with a L'Cie mark and sends them down toward Lake Bresha.

Snow dreams of a past memory, where he and Serah enjoyed happier--yet sorrowful--times.
