Here's a beautiful video of Milani, a three year old first-time mother, giving birth to her five cheetah cubs on September 19, 2014.
Cheetahs, like most animals and even humans labor best in a safe and secure envirnoment. This small space is actually an ideal location for Milani to give birth. There is one entrance for her to watch for danger and while she is most vulnerable she's able to feel safe while giving birth.
Another note; this small den is actually inside of a much larger covered space that she has full access to.
