The 4Runner (pre-2025) is a moving case study of designing and building a vehicle capable of reaching and exceeding well over 200,000 miles without major issues; it’s a standard I’m not sure most automakers have for the cars being built today. Despite the multiple warning indicators illuminated on the dash, I had zero qualms this 4Runner was in acute distress; and I'm certain it could continue on indefinitely without addressing its indicated issues.

No direct injection or turbochargers, a five-speed auto, and over 20 years of continuous refinement (between the fourth-generation and fifth-generation, specifically), the 4Runner’s durability and reliability is unmatched (again, speaking to pre-2025, specifically), and it’s market values speak for itself.

If you have any 4Runner built before model year 2025, hang on to it. For ever, and ever, and ever, and ever.
