I couldn’t find a build that used a shield, all the builds were full damage focused and tbh with you, without a shield I feel that the HBG is to slow and clunky to use, since Monster Hunter Freedom Unite I felt that (well that's why the LBG exists.)

This build has Guard 5 and Guard Up 3 so you can block basically everything, with minimal chip damage. It holds up pretty well against Anomaly Investigations lvl. 300, so against regular monsters you shouldn’t have any problems.
