MW DX: Testing a 2x4 m Flag Antenna for Trans Atlantic DXing

During a DXpedition to the fields on 27 September 2013 I was testing a 2x4 meter flag antenna for Trans Atlantic medium wave reception. The antenna was directed to approx. 320°.
Receiver: AOR AR7030 (powered by the car battery)
In contrast to my previous test of a mini flag ( • MW DX: Testing a mobile mini flag antenna ), the RX was set to the "50 Ohm" position, so the whip amplifier was not used. However, reception proved to be best with the 10 dB preamp activated.
Propagation conditions seemed to favour Central and South America that morning while the "big guns" from the US East Coast came in somewhat weakish.
