Testing the Power of Playing Cards Tarot | Can Cards Predict a Poker Hand? | Hands 86–90

Описание: Can playing cards "predict" a poker hand? Far more often than a random card draw is expected to appear?

This live test continues an ongoing experiment exploring how much meaning may be “in the cards.” Today we will run poker hands 86 to 90 and search for poker hands which feature Joseph Cheong, Ben Lamb, Talal Shakerchi, Biao Ding, and Espen Jorstad.

During each session, I shuffle the AWEsome Deck of tarot playing cards, ask the deck what card will appear in the first poker hand on the first video that comes up on YouTube when I run a particular search, and then draw one card. I then run the specified search and watch the video to see whether the drawn card appears as predicted.

This ongoing project examines luck, coincidence, correlation, and intuition using the tarot meanings of playing cards and poker.

I am Rachel Hoyt — an artist, writer, and independent sociology researcher studying the meanings associated with signs, symbols, and systems such as tarot, playing cards, and poker.

This project is part of a long-term inquiry into whether meaning is inherent, constructed, or emergent through interaction with symbolic systems.
