I Slept On the Streets in the Middle of Winter

Описание: Tonight, I will be sleeping on the streets. And it's the middle of winter.

The cold, the sleep deprivation, the limited food, the lack of shelter. Life is beyond tough for homeless people. And what I am doing by spending a night on the streets, is nothing compared to what homeless people go through.

But hopefully it can give you some insight.

If I find one night on the streets very tough.. imagine how hard it is for those that have to sleep there every single day!

What Happened With The Lost Footage Situation?

The video I was making originally was very long. Even after having edited a lot, I had about an hour and a half of footage that I was working on.

The only way I could store all that footage was to put it in an external hard drive.

But the external hard drive got corrupted. And I lost all of the footage that I had filmed on the DSLR Camera. I still had all of the footage that I filmed on my Mobile Phone (because it was still on my phone).

I had spent 24 hours on the streets, and between 30 to 50 hours editing. So I wanted to make sure that this video still got out one way or another. To hopefully make a small bit of a difference.

A lot of the footage that I lost was footage where I was recording my conversations with other people that were homeless or talking about my experience meeting homeless people on the streets.

In order to replace those lost clips I have done three things:

1. Recorded some voice overs, which I overlaid over clips from the internet.
2. Utilised real interviews from the Invisible People YouTube channel, where you can see the real stories of homeless people. To make it fit into the video i used my voice overs to ask the questions.
3. I re-filmed myself saying things that I knew that I had said when I slept on the streets.

The above is why I said it is 'based on a true story'. But of course the stories of the homeless people are real, and I did actually sleep on the streets. And the majority of the footage seen in this video is real footage from the night where I slept on the streets.

Most of the DSLR footage lost, was the footage filmed in the day. Once it got late at night I started filming more on my mobile, because the camera didn't look good at night. Plus the camera started running low on battery.

Hopefully that all makes sense. But I'm happy to answer questions on it : )
