Nearly half of local authorities in England still fail to comply with last year’s Supreme Court ruling on biological sex. Of 317 councils, 159 are awaiting guidance, 19 are confident they comply, and at least 17 may have unlawful policies. Some councils openly oppose the judgment, keeping trans-inclusive rules.
Equalities minister Bridget Phillipson urges employers to act without waiting for official guidance.
