Afghanistan’s Taliban Foreign Minister arrives in India for a week-long official visit!

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, has arrived in India for a one-week official visit.
He reached New Delhi and will stay in India until October 16.
This visit is very important because it is the first time a Taliban representative has come to India.
Since August 2021, when the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Zia Takal, also confirmed that Muttaqi will meet India’s External Affairs Minister and other senior Indian officials.
During his stay, Amir Khan Muttaqi will meet Indian officials and discuss:
The relationship between India and Afghanistan,
Possible new agreements, and
Regional issues, especially the situation with Pakistan.
India’s External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, said that both countries will discuss bilateral relations and regional peace and stability.
So far, Russia is the only country that has officially recognized the Taliban government.
Because of UN Security Council travel restrictions, Amir Khan Muttaqi needed special permission to travel internationally.
He was allowed to visit India after India made a special request to the UN for this permission.
This visit is seen as a major step in India’s engagement with the Taliban government amid rising tensions in the region.
