Poland's Anti-EU Uprising? Thousands Rally Against Tusk's Pro-EU Government | Times Now World

Описание: Thousands of supporters of Poland's conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party rallied in Warsaw on Saturday against Prime Minister Donald Tusk's pro-European Union government, as tensions over the country's judiciary intensified. PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński warned that adopting the euro and pursuing deeper European Union integration could lead Poland into “poverty and destitution”, calling for political change and independent state institutions. The demonstration took place amid a dispute over the appointment of Constitutional Tribunal judge Maciej Berek, whose parliamentary oath-taking was rejected by President Karol Nawrocki. The confrontation has intensified a wider political struggle between Tusk's governing coalition and the nationalist-conservative opposition over judicial independence, constitutional authority and Poland's relationship with the EU. Poland has not adopted the euro, and Kaczyński's remarks reflect opposition to further integration rather than an announced change in government policy.
