Sarah, Richard and Zion in Zermatt

Описание: If you’ve stuck around for a couple of my blog entries so far, you’ll know that there is one particular place in this world that is incredibly special to me for an important reason. This place I’m talking about is Zermatt, Switzerland.

Zermatt is a village in Switzerland. People come here from all over the world for skiing and mountaineering. If you are familiar with the Matterhorn, the famous alpine mountain, then it may interest you to know that you can find it in Zermatt! If you still don’t know what I’m talking about, then take a look at a bar of Toblerone. The mountain you see on the logo is the Matterhorn. Cool, right?

Mountains and chocolates aside, the village itself is incredibly tranquil. There are barely any cars here. The few cars that are in the area are almost silent. If you are looking for a place to find your center in the midst of nature, this is it.

Almost a year ago, Richard proposed to me here. Our family spent a week in Zermatt, and when we spent some time off the slopes and went exploring, I didn’t know that my life would change. He got down on one knee right in front of the majestic Matterhorn, and I said yes to forever with him. It was without a doubt, one of the best moments in my life, and one I am not likely to forget.

But apart from the proposal, we spent wonderful days in Zermatt taking in the breathtaking mountains and playing in the snow. Growing up in Switzerland, skiing was one of my favorite activities to do with family, and I was so happy to be able to share the experience with my family and close friends. Once you get high up, the snow is as far as the eye can see! The thick blanket of snow and sloping mountains really make this place perfect for skiing!

We made it a point to try to get Zion to ski for the first time. Richard and I did our best to teach him how to use his skis and not fall over… but he was having so much fun that it just felt like playtime!

If you’ve never skied before, I have to tell you: it’s really exhilarating! You feel giddy as you glide through the snow, down the mountain. It literally makes you feel like you’re on top of the world, and when you feel the wind on your face, it’s as if you’re flying.

If you are thinking of putting it on your bucket list, I hope you’re able to enjoy this same view I had: of glittering, powdery white snow, with the jewel of the Swiss Alps framing a most beautiful afternoon sun. I also hope you get to enjoy it with people you love, and maybe get more than you bargained for. I know we definitely did. 🙂
