The most crushing blow of the 1987 season for the New York Mets was when Terry Pendleton took Roger McDowell deep at Shea Stadium to tie the game with a two-run home run. The St. Louis Cardinals would eventually win the game, and the National League Pennant. It may not have hurt as bad as Mike Scioscia taking Dwight Gooden deep in Game 4 of the 1988 National League Championship Series, but Pendleton will always be remembered as the guy that crushed the 1987 New York Mets.
