Can Google Detect AI Content? (Do they even care?)

Описание: So not too long ago, I made a video about AI generated content, and in that video I referenced this published in search engine journal, where John Mueller - Google’s Search Advocate - said that AI generated content - fell under automatically generated content *which they consider that to be spam..*

BUT a couple weeks ago Google updated its stance on AI content - here’s the new announcement

I’ll add a link in the description so you guys can have a read, but the main jist is:

1. Google rewards high-quality content, regardless of how it’s produced
2. ON the flip side, they will still hit hard against low-quality spam content,
3. Finally - they give some advice for those of us choosing to work with AI to generate content: think about EEAT

So to answer the question: Can Google detect AI content? The answer is most likely yes, but the second question and probably more important questions is: does it matter if they do?

from their recent announcement, all the care about is content quality and they’re telling us that there is a way of using ai to create content that won’t be punished

SO what does this look like?

but are any of these pages actually getting traffic? Obviously theres a lot more things that are involved in that equation, but if they are itll be a good sign that google approves of the ai content

so lets talk about how we can create content with AI that google will like:

1. Focus on Quality
1. As i’m sure we all know, theres few instances where we can actually produce long-form content with AI without any human intervention so pretty obvious one, but make sure the content is being reviewed and edited by a human - ideally an expert. Perhaps there will be a point in the near future where we won’t have to, but for now human intervention and assistance is essential.
2. Follow EEAT
1. Experience
2. Expertise
3. Authority
4. Trust being the most important one

I’ll add some tips of the basics of EAT

1. A complete about page
2. Easy to find contact page
3. Reputable references
4. Privacy Policy & Terms of service
5. Author Byline’s and Bio’s.
6. Backlinks from big players


and if you guys want to go deeper I do recommend looking over the EEAT guidelines because there itll guide you into knowing if you have solid EEAT and on TOP of that, that theres a new section that references AI - so if theres the Who, how and why?

so for Who - google wants us to be clear about who’s creating the content

so lets make sure to include a reputable author, where we can add them to the byline of your content, and maybe even have an author page for them

for why - pretty basic - just need to explain to google why we’re creating it, so what value are you providing the reader - that should be pretty clear with your content

and then the HOW Is very interesting since it references what we should be doing if we’re using AI

and the main thing is google recommends that you disclose the fact that you’re using it, how you’re using it, and why you’re using it.

Seems like google is prefering honesty when we’re using AI in our content - and from the examples we just talked about of those massive websites, it also seems that mixing in some real reputable editors/reviewers

they recommend that we disclose that we’re using it, provide background on how, and explaining why we’re using it - that’s quite interesting, this is something that we saw with the previous examples like CNET, bankrates, and doing so definitely recommend looking back at those examples and start making some changes if you’re using AI to generate a lot of content on your website.

and so in conclusion guys, don’t worry about google detecting how you’ve made your content and instead just stay focused on creating high quality content, trying to provide as much value as possible.
