Join us on the eve of International Women’s Day to hear about the “ice ceilings” that our incredible guests have already broken, find out about UKAHT's all-female team at Port Lockroy, and look ahead to the future and the boundaries that are yet to be broken.

Once inaccurately labelled the “Womanless Continent”, Antarctica has seen groundbreaking science and record-smashing achievements by women scientists and explorers. One is our host for the evening, UKAHT’s own Head of Operations Sophie Montagne, who was a member of the Ice Maiden Expedition, the first all-female team to ski across Antarctica using muscle power alone, and the largest ever team to ski across the continent.

Sophie is joined by award-winning adventurer, travel writer, photographer, presenter and broadcaster, Phoebe Smith, who last year took a group of underprivileged young people to Antarctica with her #WeTwo Foundation. Two of her young explorers join us to share their experiences and introduce us to the future face of Antarctic exploration.
