US Stocks End Lower Amid Tariff Woes & AI Disruption Fears, Asia Mixed; Weak Start On D-Street?

Описание: Stocks fell as volatility picked up on Monday as uncertainty about President Donald Trump’s new proposed tariffs and nerves about artificial intelligence weighed on Wall Street. The Dow closed lower by 823 points, or 1.66%, and posted its worst day in one month. The broader S&P 500 fell 1.04%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite sank 1.13%.

Asian shares fell today after fresh anxiety over the impact of artificial intelligence on company profits roiled Wall Street, while uncertainty over tariffs added to traders' concerns.


Gauges in Japan, which returned after a holiday on Monday, edged lower, along with those in South Korea. Australian shares, however, opened higher, suggesting the bourse lacks technology stocks relative to peers. Markets in mainland China are poised to reopen after the Lunar New Year holiday period.


Meanwhile, Gift Nifty was trading around 25,622 level, a discount of nearly 83 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close, indicating a negative start for the Indian stock market indices.
