Abbas al-Janabi SOT:
1. " I was forced to work with him in 1991 after the uprising. He ordered one of his bodyguards and said 'take Abbas to Radwaniya (prison)'. They took me to Radwaniya. I had three days of torture. They told me I have to work with Uday. They said you can't say no. I have five children."
2. "He became crueller. His cruelty became more and more an more. His wickedness became more and more."
3. Uday orchestrated the killings in 1995 of Saddam Hussein's two sons-in-law, Hussein Kamel and Saddam Kamel. Abbas witnessed Hussein Kamel's final moments - "He was wounded. The house inside was burned. He went out of the house. He was wounded, lifting - this what I saw - lifting two machine guns in his hand and insulting the regime. And they shot him. I don't know the number of bullets. And he feel to the ground and they shot him like this (gestures) after he was dead."
4. Al-Janabi tells of the grisly murder which he saw Uday commit at a fairground in 1993. A man called Mohammed el-Kharawai had angered Uday by criticizing him - "Mohammed went to one of the horses and got on it. But he was very drunk, so he feel to the ground. He fell to the ground inside the merry-go-round. There's a steel spike on top which comes to his head. He him in this area (points to top of head) and he feel down. He feel down dead."
5. Talking of the long-running feud between Uday and Barzan al-Takriti (who also defected) - "You know that Uday married Barzan's daughter. He neglected her and kept her for three months in Baghdad and then allowed her to travel to her father in Geneva. And from that time - this happened in 1995 - he refused even to divorce her. So this is the reason why Barzan hates Uday and why he won't return to Baghdad."
