Gravina in Puglia is a town located about 40 km from Bari, on the border between Basilicata and Puglia. It is the seat of the Parco Nazionale dell'Alta Murgia, an area characterised by numerous gravina or canyons, some of which are a hundred metres deep. Further south and down to the sea through the Parco Regionale della Murgia Materana, there are similar towns, perched and sometimes literally cut in two by canyons: Matera, Ginosa, Castellanota, Laterza are good examples. This region, on the border between two of the most beautiful regions of Italy, is a real treasure for those who love old villages, caves and beautiful landscapes!
