How To use a LIST to FILTER & SHORTEN your POWER BI Report in SECONDS to Display only Relevant Items

Last week, I shared 3 options which will allow us to quickly apply a filter to shorten a report and to display only the relevant items, two, three, five, ten, etc.

What if we have a very long list of 'relevant items' , 20, 50 or 100?
Is there a more efficient solution?
Can we filter based on a List?
Yes, there is another option which I will show you in this video.

This solution will allow you to quickly filter a Power BI report and create a shorter list of items to display only a "given list of items", which can be quickly copy and pasted into the Power BI report… without the need of any DAX or any changes to the data model.

This is a simple solution that will make your Power BI customers very happy… as it solves a problem that many users want.. Ie how to filter a power BI report based a list.

My Key Account Sales Manager (Greg) said that it is such a basic need… that surely so many Power BI users would want to do… He is surprised that Microsoft Power BI 'designers' or 'architects' are not incorporating this features into Power BI.

However, the solution is not perfect… I found that there is limitation on how it handles list which contains names with 'commas'. I initially thought that the filter doesn't work when the list is too long. Turned out that the filter can handle long list of 100+ items… but it can't handle names with commas very well. But as soon as those commas were removed from the names… everything works nicely.
