Marlene Laruelle is the Director of the Central Asia Program, Research Professor of International Affairs, Co-Director of PONARS Eurasia, and Associate Director of the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at the George Washington University. She explores contemporary political, social and cultural changes in Russia and Central Asia through the prism of ideologies and identities. She has been the recipient of grants from the Open Society Institute, Henry Luce Foundation, Smith Richardson Foundation, the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Defense, and National Science Foundation.
