«R assibilation» is also called «To drag your Rs» in Spanish, and it's also common in Andean Spanish in Ecuador, Perú, and Bolivia. R assibilation is particularly common in the Ecuadorian highlands, such as Cuenca. In Chile there's also a lot of R assibilation. However, in these Spanish speaking countries R assibilation is often stigmatized, and thus avoided in formal situations. Mexico is an exception because in the capital city R assibilation is seen as a mark of social prestige. This explains why R assibilation, a dialectal feature, can be heard in the supposedly "neutral" Mexican Spanish movie dubs.
