Gelora Bung Karno Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia which is part of the Bung Karno Sports Complex. This stadium is generally used as an arena for international football matches. The stadium is named in honor of Soekarno, the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, who was also a figure who sparked the idea of ​​building this sports complex. In the context of de-Soekarnoization, during the New Order era, the stadium's name was changed to Senayan Main Stadium through Presidential Decree No. 4/1984. After the reformation wave in 1998, the name of the stadium was returned to its original name through Presidential Decree No. 7/2001.

When it first opened in 1962, the stadium had a seating capacity of 110,000. This capacity has been reduced twice: first to 88,083 in 2006 for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup and second to 77,193 between 2016 and 2017 for the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Games for Difability. In the 2016-17 renovation, all spectators were replaced with single seats. . The capacity of 88,083 makes it the 7th largest association football stadium in the world. Currently, it is the 28th largest association football stadium in the world and the 8th largest association football stadium in Asia.
