Switzerland has the densest railway network in the world. Combine that with the alps and you get a network which need multiple gauges for best functionality.
These need to meet at interchange stations so passengers can swap from one type of network to another. Of all these interchange stations there's one that stands out.
Montreux is the only tri-gauge railway station in Switzerland served by the standard gauge SBB, the metre gauge MOB and the 800mm rack railway of the MGN.
