(2 Jul 2018) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani left Tehran for Bern on Monday morning ahead of an official visit at the invitation of his Swiss counterpart.
Rouhani said before departure that his trip is aimed at deepening bilateral ties as well as holding talks with Europe over ways to help the landmark 2015 nuclear deal survive after the United States withdrew from it in May.
At the Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, Rouhani told reporters that Europe condemns the US pullout and would like the nuclear deal to continue to exist since it is to the benefit of the whole world.
Rouhani will leave Bern for Vienna on Wednesday, his second destination.
