Описание: The residence sits on .95 acres in a desirable neighborhood of private streets surrounded by the 265 acre Poland Municipal Forest. It has easy access to schools, the library and the center of the village.
The Doctor Jared Potter Kirtland House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, for its State of Ohio significance. At this residence, Kirtland prepared the Zoology Section of the first Geological Survey of the State of Ohio, published in 1838.

The 2500 square foot two-story residence has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, two sitting rooms, a formal dining room and large front hall.  The large, farm-style kitchen has a working fireplace, laundry room, two walk-in pantries and lavatory.  The interior finish woodwork is architecturally important with Ionic capitals on the parlor windows and doorway.  First story ceilings are 9.5', second story ceilings are 9'.  Most woodwork, floors and doors are original.  The five original fireplaces use two 1976 chimneys; three fireplaces are working.  Above the kitchen is a garret usable as an extra bedroom or office with two additional back rooms, three closets.  This area is reached by a back staircase.

The house has two gas forced-air furnances, new in 2017 witih air-conditioning.  All plumbing was replaced in 1976, with up-dated bathrooms in 2010 and 2016.  The septic system, cleaned in 2020, has an aerator, installed in 2020.  French drains were cleaned in 2020; a usable cistern, installed in 2012, collects much roof run-off.  All wiring was replaced in 1976; the electrical system has 200 amps of service.  Interior basement drainage and a new sump pump system were added in 2020.  The house had an inspection in January 2021, all noted issues were addressed and upgraded.  The termite inspection in January 2021 noted no evidence of termites, very old powder post beetle holes in the basement ceiling beams.  The basement has 9' clearance with historic beams and joists.

The 1 1/2 story garage, a copy of the original 1825 carriage house, has room for two car bays plus 10' side for storage.  The usable garage garret has a staircase, two windows, access to water; it could be converted into a playroom, office or studio.
