While in Berlin, I HAD to visit this famous cold-war location. I remember, as a young man, reading about and being fascinated by the interaction between the east and the west. How there was an actual portal through which people could pass from liberated, free West into the dungeon of East. Now it is just a place to take your picture. People used to be shot trying to escape from Communism. Right across the street there is a great museum-like park dedicated to the people who attempted to escape and some who actually did escape from Communism.
