All Durham residents and especially developers in our area are invited to offer their feedback on proposed capital facility fee increases. These fees are used to finance the capital costs of utility infrastructure, which are needed for new development or to pay for existing facilities which will serve the new development. Essentially, this is the fee a developer pays when they want to tie into existing water and sewer infrastructure. The increases are being proposed by an outside consultant that was hired to review existing fees as well as what our costs are. The fees would only affect new development. To receive feedback on the proposed fee increases, a public hearing will be held during the City Council’s meeting on October 2. If the City Council approves the fee increases, they would go into effect on January 1, 2024. More information can be found at Durham NC dot gov.
