Greeting, Gathering and Passing the Peace
This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Prelude “Aria” Flor Peeters
Call to Worship Victoria Odesina
Leader: This is the season of Lent, a season to remember the sufferings of Jesus Christ.
People: A season to remember that to follow Christ is to take up our crosses and to be servants of all.
Leader: A season to remember Jesus’ question, “Are you able to drink the cup that I drink?”
People: A season to reflect on how we, like Peter, are afraid and turn away.
Leader: A season to watch and wait with Christ, that we may have courage in the hour of testing.
People: A season to proclaim with Mary Magdalene that Christ is not dead, but alive!
Gathering Hymn “Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days”
Lord, who throughout these forty days
for us did fast and pray,
teach us with you to mourn our sins
and close by you to stay.
As you with Satan did contend,
and did the victory win,
O give us strength in you to fight,
in you to conquer sin.
And thro' these days of penitence,
and thro' your passiontide,
forevermore, in life and death,
O Christ, with us abide.
Abide with us, that through this life
of doubts and hope and pain,
an Easter of unending joy
we may at last attain!
Unison Prayer of Praise and Confession
God of compassion, you know how we rebel against you. You know how we doubt and fear and hold back, when you call us to freedom and to partnership in Jesus Christ. God, forgive us. Free us by the power of your cross, that we may serve you without fear. Grant us your peace, through Jesus Christ who was faithful to the end, as we pray in the way he taught his disciples….
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Sermon Hymn “I Want Jesus to Walk With Me”
I want Jesus to walk with me.
I want Jesus to walk with me.
All along my pilgrim journey,
O, I want Jesus to walk with me.
In my trials, Lord, walk with me.
In my trials, Lord, walk with me.
When my heart is almost breaking,
O, I want Jesus to walk with me.
When I'm troubled, Lord, walk with me.
When I'm troubled, Lord, walk with me.
When my head is bowed in sorrow,
O, I want Jesus to walk with me.
Scripture John 18:12-27
Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.

Anthem “Steal Away” Patrick Dupre Quigley
Refrain: Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away, steal away home;
I ain't got long to stay here.
My Lord, he calls me;
He calls me like the thunder.
The trumpet sounds within my soul;
I ain't got long to stay here. (Refrain)
Green trees are bending,
And sinners stand a-trembling.
The trumpet sounds within my soul;
I ain't got long to stay here. (Refrain)

Sending Hymn “In Suff’ring Love”
In suff'ring love the thread of life
is woven through our care,
for God is with us; not alone
our pain and toil we bear
There is a rock, a place secure
within the storm's cold blast;
concealed within the suff'ring night
God's covenant stands fast.
In love's deep womb our fears are held;
there God's rich tears are sown
and bring to birth, in hope newborn,
the strength to journey on.
Christ, to our hearts your joy commit,
into our hands your pain;
so send us out to touch the world
with blessings in your name.
In suff'ring love our God comes now,
hope's vision born in gloom;
with tears and laughter shared and blessed
the desert yet will bloom.
