Malabarista, Spanish for juggler, acts as a metaphor for juggling the complex Armenian and Turkish historical stories. The work speaks to a quality of in-between-ness--between photography and video, between movement and impediment, between a difficult past where it challenging to stay connected to the events of history and the longing to remember. At the same time, this history is so fragile that one is compelled to re-tell the story, but through another lens, and decades years later.
