For 1993, Ford wanted to send off the third generation Mustang, also known as the Fox Body, properly. To commemorate the end of a generation, Ford’s Special Vehicles Team (SVT) created the penultimate Fox Body Cobra: The SVT Cobra R. Power and transmission options were the same as that found in the standard Cobra. What differentiated the Cobra R was a dedicated effort to weight savings, with an absence of a radio, speakers, wiring and antenna, A/C, foglights, sound deadening, rear seat, nor any power options with manual steering, manual windows, manual door locks, manual mirrors, and manual seats. All in all, roughly 450lbs were saved from the base Cobra. With a limited production run of only 107 units, the Cobra R was destined to be collectible. Presented here is #17. With 62 actual miles on the odometer, the best way to describe this car is a brand new 23 year old Mustang. There is a folder of information on this car including the dealer invoice, the Warranty Authorization Card as well as the Owner’s Guide and Warranty Information book, a window sticker, and of course the SVT Certification.
