Currently all trains plying in the Salem-Dharmapuri-Hosur-Bangalore route operate with electric traction. Salem to Bangalore has two different routes, one via Tiruppatur-Bangarapet and the other is the Single line Dharmapuri-Hosur route that runs parallel to the Eastern Ghats.
