After crossing the Khunjerab Pass at nearly 4,700 meters, we enter Pakistan via the legendary Karakoram Highway.
Again we pass a turning point in our motorcycle journey from Rotterdam to Bangkok. Schedules loosen, and we start some side quests, and the controlled solitude of Central Asia gives way to chaos.
From the cold desert of Skardu to the snow-covered Deosai Plateau, we battle altitude, failing carburetors, broken luggage frames, landslides, and sudden snowstorms. Plans collapse, the mountains decide for us.
In the cities — Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore — Chai becomes the rhythm of the road.
