Описание: NEWCASTLE UNITED have announced that their Under-21 Lead Coach has quit, just five months after taking the role.

The former Manchester United coach – who was replaced at Old Trafford by Darren Fletcher – has decided to leave St James’ Park after only joining in September last year.

The club have issued a statement to confirm the news of Adam Lawrence’s departure while also naming his replacement on an interim basis as the Magpies go on the hunt for a new lead coach for their Under-21s.

It reads: “Adam Lawrence has chosen to step down from his role as Lead Coach of Newcastle United Under-21s.

“Lawrence took charge of the Magpies’ under-21 side in September 2025, joining the Magpies’ Academy from Manchester United, where he was Lead Coach for the club’s under-18s side.

“Robbie Stockdale will take interim charge of United’s under-21s while the process of recruiting a new lead coach takes place.”

Newcastle United Academy Director, Steve Harper, added: “I’d like to thank Adam for his time with us leading the Under-21 group.

“We wish him the best of luck as he pursues the next step in his coaching career.”

In July, Fletcher – currently in interim charge of the top team following Ruben Amorim’s sacking – was appointed Lawrence’s successor.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox said: “We are delighted that Darren will lead our Under-18s group.

“He knows exactly what it takes to be a successful academy graduate and has played a key role in shaping the pathway for so many of our young players in recent years.

Old Trafford bosses are on the hunt for an interim boss until the summer after the decision to axe Amorim.
