Swan Hill is just three and a half hours north-west from Melbourne and five and a half hours from Adelaide. The region is renowned for its fresh local produce, sprawling landscapes, Australian native wildlife and Aboriginal heritage. The region runs alongside the majestic Murray River for nearly 200 kilometers, and beautiful townships like Lake Boga, Nyah/Nyah West, Woorinen, and the regional center of Robinvale.

The Pioneer Settlement Museum is an open-air museum that serves as a model of what life was like in the Swan Hill area during the 18th century. With 50 replica buildings, the first-ever tractor in Australia and a genuine Kaiser panorama.

A giant Murray Cod outside the train station of Swan Hill is a monument to the big codfish that had been caught in the river before irrigation and drought affected the river. Murray Cod is still present in the river today but not at the same numbers and sizes than it has been reported earlier in European settlement.

Located just three kilometers from central Swan Hill, Tower Hill features walking and cycling paths, an all-abilities playground at Barry Steggall Park, wetlands and easy access to schools and parkland.

On your way to Swan Hill you can also see aspects of the Silo Art Trail. The Silo Art Trail is Australia’s largest outdoor gallery which stretches over 200 kilometers. The trail celebrates the region’s people through a series of large-scale mural portraits painted onto grain silos.

Lake Boga is a town in Victoria, Australia, located next to the lake of the same name. It is situated within the Rural City of Swan Hill within the Mallee region of northwest Victoria. Lake Boga Caravan Park sits on the banks of pristine Lake Boga in Victoria, 16km south of Swan Hill. You can enjoy a relaxing holiday here, with fun-filled water activities, picnics and BBQs. Accommodation includes waterfront cabins with decks.

A local attraction is the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum. Hidden under the canopy of a modern hangar, you will discover what the imperial enemy couldn’t find, the secret No.1 Flying Boat Repair Depot in Australia, used during the Second World War. Under the guidance and dedication of the Lake Boga Lions Club, this remarkable museum takes us back to the 1940s, where Catalina’s were more common on the lake than speed boats are today. You can explore inside the rebuilt A24-30 Catalina Flying Boat or go underground into the secret Communication Bunker, where one can gain an understanding of the importance this base held during the Second World War.
