DIY Lube: How To Make Lube At Home

I use a single recipe for a clear, light weight gel with preservatives that should give it 9+ months of shelf life. However, you can skip the preservatives if you add in some K-lube (not J ), as long as the texture works for you.

Some FYI - Lubes that claim to have stimulating properties rarely have transdermal carriers - they might work orally, but rubbing herbs on your skin isn't going to do anything. I wanted to provide a lot more info on ingredients and their roles, especially actives, but for now I think it is better to just give a recipe anyone can follow. There is info on some active ingredients that provide warming and cooling sensations as well as increase blood flow and a transdermal carrier, which might be useful for some.

It was surprisingly difficult to come up with a few recipes. I wanted to include more than one, but it gets incredibly complicated to explain how ingredients can change roles just based on % of total or impacts from other ingredients. The clear gel recipe is very simple and easy to modify. By changing the HEC from 1.5% to 2%, you can really thicken it up.

The last part of the video was extremely rushed. I had to really cut out a lot as the details really are too much for a single video.

If you're looking to add enhancers like warming or cooling, but you don't want to make the lube from scratch, you can follow the directions and just use your favorite lube as the base.

EVERY TIME YOU MAKE LUBE YOU NEED TO TEST IT ON YOUR FOREARM BEFORE PUTTING IT DOWNSTAIRS!!!! Anything on your forearm, will be many times as strong elsewhere.

DO NOT USE AI FOR LUBE RECIPES. Many recipes provided by Gemini and Claude contained unsafe levels of actives - there's a pic of my forearm at 5:20 - that was the second test, using 1/10th of the first. The first test was burning after ~4min, and continued to escalate even after washing off.
