Design and Construction

The chimney body is fabricated with a carbon steel outer shell that ensures superior structural strength and wind resistance. Inside, a FRP corrosion-resistant liner protects the flue from chemical attack, acid vapors, and high-humidity gases typically generated in fertilizer and chemical processes. This dual-layer structure provides an ideal balance between mechanical durability and chemical protection, reducing maintenance and extending service life beyond 20 years under continuous operation.

The carbon steel section is made of Q235B or Q345R plates, precision-rolled and welded according to GB150 and ASME VIII standards. All weld seams are subject to non-destructive testing (NDT), including ultrasonic and magnetic particle inspection, ensuring full compliance with TUV and CE quality certifications. After welding, the surface receives a multi-layer epoxy and zinc-rich primer coating to prevent oxidation and rust formation.

The FRP inner layer is manufactured using vinyl ester resin and E-glass fiber winding technology, forming a smooth, anti-corrosive surface resistant to acid gases like SO₂, HCl, and NH₃. The inner lining thickness can be customized between 4mm to 10mm, depending on gas composition and temperature. This composite technology prevents condensation corrosion and significantly reduces maintenance frequency.

Performance and Functionality

The 20m chimney is engineered to handle flue gas volumes up to 120,000 Nm³/h, with a temperature resistance range between -20°C and 180°C. It can operate continuously under both normal dedusting exhaust and emergency discharge conditions. The chimney design includes a multi-stage flange connection for easy assembly and inspection, as well as anchor bolts and guy wire supports to ensure stability under high wind loads.

For emergency exhaust applications, the chimney is equipped with an automatic bypass valve that opens instantly during pressure surges, protecting fans, filters, and ductwork from overpressure damage. The system can be integrated into the plant’s PLC-based environmental monitoring system, allowing real-time data collection for flow, temperature, and pressure parameters.
