Maybe it’s a bit of a full on saying, but I think it’s a great metaphor for being aware of the longer-term risks of rushing through everything & being out of control.
Sure, it’s sometimes great to take things faster and to push the boundaries, but, looking back, I had many ‘twisted ankle’ type warning signals from my body in the form of pains or small injuries…but I mostly ignored them or just pushed on through.
That led me to my ‘broken leg’ in the form of years of pain, which well & truly stopped me in my tracks & made me really take stock.
Here are a few other sayings you’ll likely recognise to reassure you that sometimes it’s important to slow things down in order to progress:

Slow and steady wins the race
Speed masks inefficiency
It’s not just about movement either. When we rush around, never rest and recover and always take the fast lane, we can head towards burnout.
