Wellome to Thames Rockets! We are London’s #1 speedboat experience and cannot wait to have you on board!
If you need some help getting to us, or you want to know exactly what the experience is like from checking in, to being on board and then disembarking, check out our handy accessibility video. Or, give the below info a read instead 🙏
Arrival and check in 👇
You need to check in at Boarding Gate 1 on the London Eye Pier 15 minutes before your departure time.
When you arrive at the pier, you will be greeted by one of our crew. All of our crew wear bright red uniforms so they are easy to spot. They will ask you for your name so that they can check you in on our online system using their phone.
You may need to wait for a few minutes until all the other customers arrive. Once everybody has checked in you will be given a short safety briefing and a demonstration of how to put on your life jacket.
Life jackets must be worn at all times when on board our boats.
If you need help to fasten the buckle or tighten the straps, please ask our crew. They are always happy to help. They will also check your life jacket is fastened correctly before you board the boat and help you to make any necessary adjustments.
We board people in the order that they arrive so listen for your name to be read out by our boarding manager. They will direct you to the open gate where your guide will meet you and make sure you step onto the boat and safely. There are three steps to walk down with a metal hand rail on either side to take you down into the seating area.
Each seat is a two-person bench with a back and leather upholstery so they are nice and comfy. There is a metal rail in front of each seat which you can hold onto for extra stability. The front seats are bumpier and the back seats are more stable when travelling at high speed.
What to expect on board👇
Our guides stand at the front of the boat and speak to passengers using a microphone and loud speaker to make sure they can be heard over the wind and engines. They will give a health and safety briefing, tell you some interesting facts and stories about London and hopefully make you laugh.
When the guides are not touring, they stand at the back of the boat by the console with the skipper who is driving.
Music plays from speakers at the front and back of the boats. We play music during the high speed section and on the ride through town when your guide is not chatting or touring.
When travelling at high speed you will feel wind in your face and you might get sprayed by the water when the boat is performing twists and turns. Our skippers do not aim to get you wet as this is not a ‘get wet’ experience, yoy may feel a little bit of spray if it’s windy or the boat hits a bump.
There may be times when the boat slows down or stops. This is to accommodate other river traffic and ease downs at specific sections on the river.
