A kingdom torn by pride and greed—

Solomon must fulfill his duty even through harsh means. (1 Kings 2:23–46)
On Mount Carmel, fire descends,
Elijah calls fire from heaven to prove God’s power. (1 Kings 18:36–38)
Baal is shattered, the falsehood ends.
The prophets of Baal are shown to be liars. (1 Kings 18:39–40)
Yet Ahab bows to Jezebel’s hand—
Instead of repenting, Ahab fears his wife. (1 Kings 19:1–2)
Now judgment rides across the land.
God promises disaster for Ahab’s sin. (1 Kings 21:20–24)
Joab the butcher, Shimei the snake,
Joab murdered and betrayed; Shimei cursed David. (1 Kings 2:5–9)
Their names are etched in the oaths they break.
They swore loyalty but acted treacherously. (2 Samuel 20:9–10; 16:5–13)
David dies with fire in his breath—
David’s last words are filled with righteous passion. (1 Kings 2:1–9)
His final words: deliver death.
He commands judgment be carried out. (1 Kings 2:6, 9)
