Video's audio has been muted because it apparently offends someone, so you'll have to listen to Ben E. King - Stand By Me separately. Sorry about that.

This tribute is the eighth in a series of nine where I'll try to give a good example of one of the alignments in D&D. I'm obviously not trying to define the given alignment, just to capture one of its many possible aspects - the human character is too colourful and shifting to be narrowed down easily.
To those who are either unfamiliar with the D&D alignment system, or simply wish to read more about them, here is a link I found very helpful in gaining insight to each of the nine: http://easydamus.com/alignment.html

Neutral Good is the easiest alignment to imagine but one of the hardest to flesh out properly. On one hand, they are your typical good guys who only kill when every other option has failed - blahblahblah, we've all seen that and reject it at an almost subconscious level because it is so inhuman and unrealistic. Let's give it a fresh start.
A Neutral Good character cares for surprisingly little, but those few are upheld with the utmost vigor. They believe in each and every one of us needing to find our own path in life, and so long as the ripples we create don't mess with the mirror-like pond that is the peace of their mind, they won't really bother you. If they can't put up too well with you, they'll leave you be if given the choice - they accept that nobody is compatible with everyone, and live by an "if you can't help then do no harm" policy. If they find you a good sport, they'll be the first ones to lend you a hand. Why? Because they believe that the world is made up of people, and people often need the help of other people to move forward. Consequently, to move the world forward, they will gladly help you - if your intentions are good enough.
This is the part most everyone in the D&D community gets wrong: while a NG character is about doing all the good you can, they are not necessarily pacifists. In fact, if you harm those they love, be they people, things, or concepts, and there is no way to keep you from repeating said harm, they will purge you from the face of the earth with no remorse or pity. Yes, they are prone to redeeming even the darkest souls, but another wisdom they've accepted is that fixing someone requires two people.
All in all you really, really want a NG person on your side. They are just as loyal as Lawful Good types but without the urge to uphold every silly rule in the book. They can and will forgive anything and everything, so long as you are on the path towards becoming yourself, without the burdens and scars of the past clouding your true personality. They will hold your hand all the way, and carry you on their backs through Hell itself if need be should your strength fail but your soul is willing. They may seem naive, foolish, or exploitable sometimes, but they are also the people many of us can thank our lives, in one way or another.
The story here is that a soul, floating in the limbo between lives, remembers all the good lives it had and wishes fondly that it may be reborn once again among those it holds dearest to its heart. As long as it can be there for them when and how it is needed, it will be content and happy to help.

Song used: Ben E. King - Stand By Me
I do not own the music or the pictures used in this video, they are all the properties of their respective owners, who should all feel awesome because they are all awesome.
P.S.: I never thought "Neutral Good" has anything to do with "Neutral Makeup". Had to remove it from the tags because my nerdrage flared so hard it would make Etna look like a spilling candle.
