How to Start an Industry Consortium Program

Join us to explore how to start an Industry Consortium Program. You’ll learn the difference between an Industry Affiliate Program (IAP) and a Gift Sponsorship Program (GSP). We’ll cover a spectrum of issues from designing a program, to policy guidelines, contracts or gift letters, publications, meetings, and deliverables and intellectual property. Bring your questions! 

Co-hosted by the UC Berkeley Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Research Alliances (IPIRA) and University Development and Alumni Relations - Fund Stewardship & Compliance (UDAR-FSC). UC Berkeley faculty, staff researchers, graduate students, and research administrative staff will benefit from attending this workshop.

Kate Lewis, Associate Director, UC Berkeley Industry Alliances Office (IAO)

IAO facilitates industry-university collaboration, including negotiating a variety of research agreements with industry. 

Andrew Besson, Policy Director, UC Berkeley UDAR Fund Stewardship and Compliance (FSC)

FSC manages gift acceptance for the campus, balancing donor needs and risk management, and oversees Berkeley’s Gift Acceptance Policy. FSC also governs gift agreements, advises on complex gift issues, and works with faculty on research gifts and policy.
