(22 Aug 2018) For many younger investors, the stock market has only gone one direction: up. The S&P 500 is in the midst of its longest-ever bull run, and it's been nearly nine and a half years since the last drop of 20 percent.
S&P Dow Jones Indices, which compiles the benchmark S&P 500 index, and other research firms say the current bull market that began on March 9, 2009.
Jonathan Corpina of Meridian Equity Partners has watched this whole bull run from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
"There's so many reasons behind how how we got here and where we came from so many different factors I mean the times our economy our economy has changed. I think investors back in 2008, 2009 learned a very expensive lesson during the financial crisis and I think overall investor sentiment and corporate sentiment has changed to get us to where we are today," said Corpina.
Corpina says while he doesn't expect the bull market to last forever, he does think the market is in a good place.
"I don't think we're going to have a quote unquote correction. I think it's going to be healthy for our markets to kind of find its space back and forth. But as of right now all the winds are behind us. It's pushing this higher. Economic data is better, earnings corporate earnings have gotten better, investor sentiment is better and as of today my feelings is that this market will continue to move higher," said Corpina.
