The most scandalous "love song" ever pressed to vinyl.
In February 1966, soul sensation "Rose Bush" attempted to release the ultimate Valentine's Day ballad. The song begins with a tender spoken-word intro that allegedly caused fainting spells in radio booths across Detroit. The record was pulled from shelves after just 48 hours when DJs realized the chorus wasn't a metaphor.
Rumor has it, Motown executives burned 5,000 copies of this single behind the studio to save their reputation. We found the only surviving copy in a dusty basement in Chicago.
