What you need to do (Pokemon Green):
1. Obtain two items with Oak's Parcel being the second
2. Open the item menu and use the select button on Oak's Parcel
3. Exit the menu via B, B
4. Enter a wild Pokemon battle and access the party menu
5. Press A to "switch the second item with the first Pokemon"
6. Exit the party menu and enter the fight screen (IMPORTANT)
7. You do not need to defeat the enemy Pokemon, so RUN from it
8. You can now do the glitch

Steps for reaching the Hall of Fame:
1. Travel between 83-87 steps inclusive, landing the 84th-88th step on the rival's house door
2. From Route 7, travel to the Pokemon Center or Celadon Condominiums
3. Exit the building and travel to Celadon Department Store, entering the right-most door
4. You will arrive just past Lance in the E4. Just move forward and proceed to the Hall of Fame

Steps to reach the Unused Map area:
1. Follow steps above until you reach either the Pokemon Center or the Celadon Condominiums
2. Travel an additional 152 steps if you exited the Pokemon Center, or an additional 172 steps if you entered the Condominiums before entering the Celadon Department Store via the right-most door in under 4 steps.
3. You will arrive in an unused, alternative version of the Route 6 Underground Path entrance.

This is an alternative version of the Route 6 entrance to Underground Path, which exists within the Generation I Pokemon games but is never used in-game. Here, the default soundtrack is the Vermillion City theme (rather than the Pewter City theme) and the associated palette is slightly different. .
