Jamhoureya follows four daring Egyptian musicians as they reconnect with their country’s distinct rural soundscapes. Traditions are scrambled and space and time merge as cutting-edge musical minds collaborate with those carrying the ancient heartbeat of Egyptian music.

Follow Egyptian electronic artists Fulltone, Hassan Abou Alam, Hussein El Sherbini and Maii Waleed as they visit Luxor, Aswan, Marsa Alam and Siwa. In each episode, the artists travel to the location of their choice within Egypt in order to work with local musicians, sampling sounds for future use and inviting the community’s artists into their studios, culminating in a collaborative concert taking place November 24th, 2017.

Hussein El Sherbini, the co-founder of Epic 101 Studios, is a visual artist and producer known for his experimental and edgy approach to sound and visuals. His unorthodox, bass-driven style was showcased in his first album Electro Chaabi, which earned him a devoted following. In this episode, Sherbini travels to the tranquil Red Sea beach town of Marsa Alam to work with Bedouin musicians, in what turns out to be an eye and ear-opening experience for the mercurial producer.
