I cook Sweet and Sour Pork on the Trangia. I show you the perfect way to cook rice and save fuel.
Ingredients
Pork 500g / 1Lb
1 Carrot
1 Red Pepper
1 Small Onion
2 Spring Onions
1 small tin of Pineapple
1 cup of Long Grain Rice
Pork Seasoning:
1/2 tsp White Pepper
1/2 tsp Five-Spice
1/2 Salt
Sauce:
2 Sachets Ketchup
2 tsp Vinegar
2 Sachets brown sugar
1/2 tsp White Pepper
1/2 tsp Five-Spice
Salt to taste
1 Tbsp cornflour (starch)
Method
1. Prepare the Pork by slicing into bite sized pieces
2. Season the pork and toss to combine
3. Prepare the vegetables by cutting into bite sized pieces and put into the
larger saucepan
4. Add the Sauce ingredients and roughly 1/2 cup water
5. Prepare the rice by washing twice and draining
6. Add 2 x the volume of water (2 cups) and season with 1/2 tsp salt
7. Bring to a simmer and time for 5 mins.
8. Take off the heat and leave for at least 10 mins.
9. Fry the Pork in oil in batches.
10. Add to the pan of vegetables
11. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer until the vegetables are cooked but still have a bite.
12. Thicken with the cornflour and some water.
13. Fluff the rice with a fork and enjoy
