Santa Lucia Lussekatter (Swedish Saffron Bread) and Glogg (Spiced Wine) with Susan B. B. Schabacker

Описание: Santa Lucia/St. Lucy's Day is a special Christian holiday that is most popular in the Nordic, Scandinavian and some European countries, like Italy. This is also considered the shortest day of the year and the festival of lights. And, it also ushers in one of the most special holidays of all, Christ-mas; right around the corner.

I'm extending my celebration of this special day, remembering this important Christian lady of light, with a garland of candles aglow round her head, illuminating the way forward through the darkness. The light of Jesus is an eternal flame, lit from within. God’s love keeps us warm on winter nights.

As a child, growing up with a Swedish au pair, we always celebrated with a special processional, songs, and baked goods: pepparkakor and Lussekatter (sweet Swedish saffron buns with cardamom). I made some this year with the addition of other spices: ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves and also Swedish spiced wine called glogg. Skål, cheers, and salut! I also enjoy dressing my Kirsten, Swedish American Girl Doll, up with a white dress and red sash and wreath with candles on her head.

Reflecting global influence, our world music songs on BTV embrace many different genres/styles, including pop, rock, electronic, blues, hip hop, rap, funk/soul, folk, country, Latin, jazz, classical, new age, and Christian contemporary. I am grateful the opportunity to branch out musically at the start of my career and explore many different languages that I sing + speak in, including: Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Polish, Hindi, Italian, German, Swedish, and Greek to add to the international flavor + am also enjoying rapping on some of our tribute songs.
