2D Mario Series Retrospective | Part I - Humble Beginnings

Описание: So... it's been a minute, huh? I was hoping for this year to be huge for the channel, but so far, I haven't really done anything. Well, that changes today! Last year, I redid my videos on the Sonic "Dreamcast era" as a part of an ongoing retrospective about that series that's currently on indefinite hiatus, because back in 2021... well, I'll be frank, I was horrible at making videos and did a really bad job. I mean I'm still not a master at doing it these days by any means but uh just ignore that part

Doing that gave me the idea to revisit the other topics from that year and make them way better than my 19-year-old self ever could, and nowhere else do I think that was needed more than in the case of the Mario series. This franchise has been one of my favorites ever since I was very young, and is among those that defined what I enjoy about video games altogether. My previous coverage of these games pains me to look back on, being my first major "game review" project after all, so the idea of redoing the videos from scratch with better footage, commentary, etc. has been in the back of my mind for a while now, but I've always thought it was way too soon.

Well, that is until the announcement and release of Super Mario Bros. Wonder last year, the grand return of 2D Mario following a period of uncertainty. Having speculated about the game and saying I would cover it in the final episode of the old marathon, Bowser's Fury, in 2022, I figured I'd might as well give the classic and... not-so-classic 2D Mario games that paved the road which led us to Wonder a second look. It gives me the opportunity to have videos about these games I can actually look back on and be happy with, while also giving my thoughts on the new game at the same time. An all-around win-win if you ask me.

That said... I was going to cover all the games in one video, but with how long this has taken, I decided to split it into parts. Sticking to the original plan would've surely left you all with no content this year from me, which I'd feel a bit bad about, so here we are. This first part covers the Famicom/NES games, and I'm planning on talking about World and the Land games, the NSMB series, and finally Wonder in parts 2, 3, and 4 respectively. Or at least, that's the plan right now. Until then, thanks for watching, and I appreciate your patience in these last eight crazy months.
