A mucous cyst is one of the more common types of fluid-filled cysts that form on the hand. While ganglion cysts, flexor tendon sheath cysts, and mucous cysts each have different names, the underlying problem is similar --it is the location that is different. A mucous cyst is found near the end joint of the finger, otherwise known as the distal interphalangeal joint. Mucous cyst often migrate towards the tip of the finger, frequently causing nail plate deformities, and sometimes they spontaneously drain a viscous yellowish fluid. In the video I describe the occurrence, location, and common associated conditions with mucous cysts.
